Overview

  • Product nameAnti-IL1 alpha antibody
See all IL1 alpha primary antibodies
  • Description
    Rabbit polyclonal to IL1 alpha
  • SpecificityThis antibody will recognise the precursor and mature form of IL-1a (i.e 31kDa and 17kDa forms). The antiserum does not recognize human IL-1b or Mouse or Rabbit IL-1a. This antibody is also useful for neutralization of human and primate IL-1a activity in bioassays. It does not neutralize the biological activity IL-1b. It does not neutralize the biological activity of mouse, rat or rabbit IL-1a. It will neutralize primate/human IL-a.
  • Tested applicationsSuitable for: ELISA, Flow Cyt, IHC-Fr, Neutralising, WB, IHC-P, ICC/IFmore details
  • Species reactivity
    Reacts with: Mouse, Human
Predicted to work with: Non Human Primates
  • Immunogen

Recombinant full length IL-1a (Human) (MW 17kDa form) produced in E.coli.

  • Positive control

Target

  • FunctionProduced by activated macrophages, IL-1 stimulates thymocyte proliferation by inducing IL-2 release, B-cell maturation and proliferation, and fibroblast growth factor activity. IL-1 proteins are involved in the inflammatory response, being identified as endogenous pyrogens, and are reported to stimulate the release of prostaglandin and collagenase from synovial cells.
  • Sequence similaritiesBelongs to the IL-1 family.
  • DomainThe similarity among the IL-1 precursors suggests that the amino ends of these proteins serve some as yet undefined function.
  • Cellular localizationSecreted. The lack of a specific hydrophobic segment in the precursor sequence suggests that IL-1 is released by damaged cells or is secreted by a mechanism differing from that used for other secretory proteins.

  • ab7632 staining IL1 alpha in murine RAW 264.7 cells by Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence.
Cells were fixed in paraformaldehyde, permeabilized using 0.1% Triton-X100 in 2% BSA for 15 minutes, blocked with 2% BSA for 1 hour at 4°C and then incubated with ab7632 at a 1/100 dilution for 16 hours at 4°C. The secondary used was an Alexa-Fluor 488 conjugated chicken anti-rabbit IgG (H+L) used at a 1/500 dilution.

  • Immunohistochemical analysis of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma tissue, staining IL1 alpha with ab7632.

Antigen retrieval was performed by heat mediation in citrate buffer (pH 6.0). Tissue was blocked with 1% BSA for 10 min. The samples incubated overnight with primary antibody (1/40). Staining was detected using DAB. Sections were counterstained with hematoxylin.
