  • Description
    Goat polyclonal to IL4
  • Specificity
    Anti-Human IL4 will neutralize the biological activity of rhIL4. It will not neutralize the activity of rmIL4. The antibody shows no cross-reactivity with rmIL4 and rrIL4. In addition, by ELISA, it shows no cross-reactivity with other cytokines tested: rhACT II, rhANG, rhAnnexin V, rhAR, rhB7-1, rhB7-2, rmB7-2, rhBTC, rhbeta-NGF, rrbeta-NGF, rhBDNF, rmC10, rhCD8, rhCD28, rrCINC-1, rhCNTF, rhCNTF sRalpha, rrCNTF, rrCNTF sRalpha, rhCTLA-4/Fc, rmCRG-2, rhEGF, rhENA-78, rhEotaxin, rmEotaxin, rhEPO, rhEPO R, rhFGF acidic, rhFGF basic, rhFGF-4, rhFGF-5, rhFGF-6, rhFGF-7, rmFGF-8b, rhFGF-9, rhFlk2/Flt3 ligand, rhFlt-1 R/Fc, rhG-CSF, rhG-CSF Ralpha, rmG-CSF, rhGDNF, rrGDNF, rhGM-CSF, rhGM-CSF Ralpha, rmGM-CSF, rhGROalpha, rhGRObeta, rhGROgamma, rhHB-EGF, rhHCC-1, rhHRG-alpha, rhHRG-beta, rhHGF, rhI-309, rhIFN-g, rmIFN-g, rrIFN-g, rhIGF-I, rhIGF-I R, rhIGF-II, rhIL-1alpha, rhIL-1 RI, rhIL-1 RII, rmIL-1alpha, rhIL-1beta, rmIL-1beta, rrIL-1beta, rhIL-1ra, rmIL-1ra, rhIL-2, rhIL-2 sRalpha, rhIL-2 sRbeta, rhIL-2 sRgamma, rmIL-2, rrIL-2, rhIL-3, rhIL-3 sRalpha, rmIL-3, rhIL-4 sR, rmIL-4, rrIL-4, rhIL-5, rhIL-5 sRalpha, rmIL-5, rhIL-6, rhIL-6 sR, rmIL-6, rhIL-7, rhIL-7 R, rmIL-7, rhIL-8, rhIL-9, rhIL-9 sR, rmIL-9, rhIL-10, rhIL-10 sR, rmIL-10, rmIL-10 sR, rhIL-11, rmIL-11, rhIL-12, rmIL-12, rhIL-13, rmIL-13, rhIL-15, rhIL-17, rhIP-10, rmJE, rmKC, rhLIF, rhLIF R, rmLIF, rmLymphotactin, rmMARC, rhM-CSF, rmM-CSF, rhMCP-1, rhMCP-1 R, rhMCP-2, rhMCP-3, rhMidkine, rhMIF, rhMIG, rmMIG, rhMIP-1alpha, rmMIP-1alpha, rhMIP-1beta, rmMIP-1beta, rmMIP-2, rhMSP, rhNT-3, rhNT-4, rhOB, rmOB, rhOSM, rmOSM, rhPD-ECGF, hPDGF, pPDGF, rhPDGF-AA, rhPDGFAB, rhPDGF-BB, rrPDGF-BB, rhPDGF Ralpha, rhPlGF, rhPTN, rhRANTES, rmRANTES, rhSCF, rmSCF, rhsgp130, rhSLPI, hTfR, rhTGF-alpha, rhTGF-beta1, rhTGF-beta2, rhTGF-beta3, raTGF-beta5, rhLAP (TGF-beta1), rhLatent TGF-beta1, rhTGF-betasRII, rhTGF-B sRIII, rhTNF-alpha, rmTNF-alpha, rrTNF-alpha, rhTNF-beta, rhsTNF RI, rmsTNF RI, rhsTNF RII, rmsTNF RII, rhTPO, rmTPO, rhVEGF, rhVEGF/PlGF, rmVEGF, rmWNT-4

  • General notes
Endotoxin: <10 ng/mg by LAL method.

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab10755 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Application Abreviews Notes
ELISA Use a concentration of 0.5 - 1 µg/ml.
WB Use a concentration of 0.1 - 0.2 µg/ml. Predicted molecular weight: 20 kDa.
Neutralising Use a concentration of 0.004 - 0.012 µg/ml. Anti-Human IL4 is tested for its ability to neutralize the bioactivity of rhIL4 in a cell proliferation assay using a human factor-dependent cell line, TF1.

  • Function
Participates in at least several B-cell activation processes as well as of other cell types. It is a costimulator of DNA-synthesis. It induces the expression of class II MHC molecules on resting B-cells. It enhances both secretion and cell surface expression of IgE and IgG1. It also regulates the expression of the low affinity Fc receptor for IgE (CD23) on both lymphocytes and monocytes.
  • Involvement in disease
Genetic variations in IL4 may be a cause of susceptibility to ischemic stroke (ISCHSTR) [MIM:601367]; also known as cerebrovascular accident or cerebral infarction. A stroke is an acute neurologic event leading to death of neural tissue of the brain and resulting in loss of motor, sensory and/or cognitive function. Ischemic strokes, resulting from vascular occlusion, is considered to be a highly complex disease consisting of a group of heterogeneous disorders with multiple genetic and environmental risk factors.
  • Sequence similarities
    Belongs to the IL-4/IL-13 family.
