Description

About the chair: Professor Steve Jackson - Innovator of the Year

Professor Steve Jackson was presented with the Innovator of the Year Award on March 24, 2009. The award is organized by the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council Company (BBSRC). It is directed to those taking steps to transfer the UK's world beating bioscience research base into impacts that positively affect quality of life for UK citizens. It also aims to build a culture amongst the research base where all scientists consider the potential of their research and the steps that could be taken to maximize its social and economic impact. Prof Jackson was selected for his work to turn research on DNA damage and repair into cancer therapies that are now saving the lives of breast and ovarian cancer suffers.
