Purification notesThe antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity-chromatography using epitope-specific phosphopeptide. The antibody against non-phosphopeptide was removed by chromatography using non-phosphopeptide corresponding to the phosphorylation site.
The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
1/50 - 1/100.
FunctionProduces nitric oxide (NO) which is a messenger molecule with diverse functions throughout the body. In macrophages, NO mediates tumoricidal and bactericidal actions. Also has nitrosylase activity and mediates cysteine S-nitrosylation of cytoplasmic target proteins such COX2.
Tissue specificityExpressed in the liver, retina, bone cells and airway epithelial cells of the lung. Not expressed in the platelets.
Sequence similaritiesBelongs to the NOS family. Contains 1 FAD-binding FR-type domain. Contains 1 flavodoxin-like domain.
ab95866 at 1/100 dilution staining iNOS in human colon carcinoma tissue sections by Immunohistochemistry (Formalin/ PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections). Left image shows staining with ab95866 whilst right one shows staining with primary antibody incubated with peptide before detection.
