  • FunctionIntegrin alpha-5/beta-1 is a receptor for fibronectin and fibrinogen. It recognizes the sequence R-G-D in its ligands. In case of HIV-1 infection, the interaction with extracellular viral Tat protein seems to enhance angiogenesis in Kaposi's sarcoma lesions.
  • Sequence similaritiesBelongs to the integrin alpha chain family.
    Contains 7 FG-GAP repeats.
  • Cellular localizationMembrane.

Thank you very much for your reply. Just to be sure to avoid any misunderstanding, the ab72663 will recongize only cleaved integrin alpha 5 at the Phe42. This cleaved integrin does however correspond to the active form, as the cleavage is only to get r...

Thank you for your inquiry. This antibody ab72663 only reacts with Integrin alpha-5 when it is cleaved between G-F at position between aa41 and aa42. It does not detect the intact protein.
