Recommended dilutions
WB: 1/1000 when using colorimetric substrates such as BCIP/NBT and 1/5000 for chemiluminescent substrates. Predicted molecular weight: 29 kDa. Dilution optimised using Chromogenic detection. A range of different sized bands can be seen for Kallikrein 1 in different tissues and in cell culture media, ranging from 16-38 kDa and likely representing different proteolytically processed forms. SDS-PAGE: Use at an assay dependent dilution. Extensive glycosylation and other posttranslational modifications give Kallikrein an apparent mass of 36-46 kDa on SDS PAGE gels. Not yet tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Relevance 

Kallikreins are a subgroup of serine proteases having diverse physiological functions. Growing evidence suggests that many kallikreins are implicated in carcinogenesis and some have potential as novel cancer and other disease biomarkers. Kallikrein 1 releases the vasoactive peptide, Lys-bradykinin, from low molecular weight kininogen. Low renal synthesis and urinary excretion of tissue kallikrein have been linked to hypertension in animals and humans and the kallikrein-kinin system may be involved in the development or progression of cardiovascular disease.
