RelevanceMAN1B1 (Mannosidase, alpha, class 1B, member 1) catalyzes the first mannose-trimming step in maturation of Asn-linked oligosaccharides. It trims a single alpha-1,2-linked mannose residue from Man(9)GlcNAc(2), specifically converting it to Man8GlcNAc isomer B. MAN1B1 may be involved in glycoprotein quality control since it is important to target misfolded glycoproteins for degradation.
Cellular localizationEndoplasmic reticulum membrane; Single-pass type II membrane protein.
