SpecificityAb33580 is highly specific to MAP 2a, b and c expressed in dendrites and cell bodies of neurons. It recognizes MAP2a and MAP2b (~280kD doublet) and MAP2c (70kD). It shows no crossreactivity with other MAPs, tau and tubulin.

FunctionThe exact function of MAP2 is unknown but MAPs may stabilize the microtubules against depolymerization. They also seem to have a stiffening effect on microtubules.
