  • Function
    Converts monoacylglycerides to free fatty acids and glycerol. Hydrolyzes the endocannabinoid 2-arachidonoylglycerol, and thereby contributes to the regulation of endocannabinoid signaling, nociperception and perception of pain (By similarity). Regulates the levels of fatty acids that serve as signaling molecules and promote cancer cell migration, invasion and tumor growth.

  • ab24701 in 1/200 dilution staining Monoacylglycerol Lipase in mouse visceral adipose tissue: The large "holes" indicate the presence of the white adipocytes as they accumulate fat stores in one lipid droplet that fills the whole cell thus pushing the cytoplasm to the periphery only, whereas brown adipocytes accumulate cytoplasmic lipid in multiple droplets. The tissue to the right is the hilus of mouse kidney and is substantially negative for this Ab reagent.

  • ab24701 staining Monoacylglycerol Lipase from monkey mesenteric adipose tissue by immunohistochemistry (formalin/PFA-fixed paraffin-embedded sections). Cells were formaldehyde fixed prior to blocking in 1% BSA for 10 minutes at RT. The primary antibody was diluted 1/200 and incubated with the sample for 2 hours. A biotin goat polyclonal to rabbit IgG, diluted 1/200, was used as the secondary.
