Overview

Properties

Applications

Fast track antibodies constitute a diverse group of products that have been released to accelerate your research, but are not yet fully characterized. They have all been affinity purified and show high titre values against the immunizing peptide (by ELISA). Fast track terms of use

Application Abreviews Notes
WB Use at an assay dependent concentration. Not yet tested - our routinely used western blotting protocol does not allow detection of proteins as large as the calculated size of 299kDa according to NP_034974.1. Therefore we cannot recommend an optimal concentration and the antibody is an aspiring product.

Target

  • RelevanceMucins are high molecular weight glycoproteins with 80% carbohydrates and 20% core protein. Gastric Mucin 5AC antigen is found in columnar mucus cells of surface gastric epithelium and in goblet cells of the fetal and precancerous colon but not in normal colon. Resurgence of gastric mucin during colonic carcinogenesis is suggestive of either re-expression of the peptide core of gastric mucin in the adult colon or due to changes in the glycosylation pattern of mucin, which expose the hidden Mucin 5AC antigen.
