Increases kainate-receptor channel activity, slowing the decay kinetics of the receptors, without affecting their expression at the cell surface, and increasing the open probability of the receptor channels. Modulates the agonist sensitivity of kainate receptors. Slows the decay of kainate receptor-mediated excitatory postsynaptic currents (EPSCs), thus directly influencing synaptic transmission.

ab171651 detecting Neto2 in mouse and rat brain lysates (lanes 1 and 2) as indicated by arrow on left hand side. ab171651 detects Neto2 in HEK293 cells tranfected with myc tagged Neto2 (lane 4), however it does not bind unespecifically Neto1 in HEK293 cells tranfected with HA tagged Neto1 (lane 3).
