See all PPAR alpha primary antibodies
  • Description
    Rabbit polyclonal to PPAR alpha
  • SpecificityThe antibody recognizes ~52 kDa PPARa in human sample. A ~28 kDa cleavage fragment can also be detected in samples of human, mouse, and rat origins.
  • Tested applicationsSuitable for: IP, WBmore details
  • Species reactivity
    Reacts with: Mouse, Rat, Human
    Predicted to work with: Dog
  • Immunogen

Synthetic peptide surrounding amino acid 25 of human PPARa.

  • Positive control
    • Rat liver/ kidney Baboon myometrium single band at ~52 kDa. K562 cells three bands: 52 kDa band and ~60 kDa band have the similar density and a much weaker band at ~45-50 kDa.

Applications

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab24509 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Application Abreviews Notes
IP Use at 12.5-1000 µg/mg of lysate.
WB Use a concentration of 3 - 6 µg/ml. Detects a band of approximately 52 kDa (predicted molecular weight: 52 kDa).

Target

  • FunctionLigand-activated transcription factor. Key regulator of lipid metabolism. Activated by the endogenous ligand 1-palmitoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycerol-3-phosphocholine (16:0/18:1-GPC). Activated by oleylethanolamide, a naturally occurring lipid that regulates satiety (By similarity). Receptor for peroxisome proliferators such as hypolipidemic drugs and fatty acids. Regulates the peroxisomal beta-oxidation pathway of fatty acids. Functions as transcription activator for the ACOX1 and P450 genes. Transactivation activity requires heterodimerization with RXRA and is antagonized by NR2C2.
  • Tissue specificitySkeletal muscle, liver, heart and kidney.
  • Sequence similaritiesBelongs to the nuclear hormone receptor family. NR1 subfamily.
Contains 1 nuclear receptor DNA-binding domain.
