The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
Application notesWB: Use at a concentration of 1-5 µg/ml.
Not yet tested in other applications. Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
FunctionBinds to actin and affects the structure of the cytoskeleton. At high concentrations, profilin prevents the polymerization of actin, whereas it enhances it at low concentrations. By binding to PIP2, it inhibits the formation of IP3 and DG.
Tissue specificityHighly expressed in brain, skeletal muscle and kidney and less strongly in heart, placenta, lung and liver.
Sequence similaritiesBelongs to the profilin family.
Predicted band size : 15 kDa Profilin 2 antibody (ab55611) at 1ug/lane + HeLa cell lysate at 25ug/lane.
