The proteasome is a multicatalytic proteinase complex which is characterized by its ability to cleave peptides with Arg, Phe, Tyr, Leu, and Glu adjacent to the leaving group at neutral or slightly basic pH. The proteasome has an ATP-dependent proteolytic activity. Mediates the lipopolysaccharide-induced signal macrophage proteasome (By similarity). SMAD1/OAZ1/PSMB4 complex mediates the degradation of the CREBBP/EP300 repressor SNIP1.

ab166792 staining Proteasome subunit beta type 4 in Human U2OS Osteo sarcome cells by ICC/IF (Immunocytochemistry/immunofluorescence). Cells were fixed with formaldehyde, permeabilized with Triton X-100 and blocked with 3% BSA for 1 hour at 22°C. Samples were incubated with primary antibody (1/50 in 1% BSA + 1% donkey serum in 1x PBS +0.5%T) for 8 hours at 4°C. An Alexa Fluor® 647-conjugated Donkey anti-goat IgG polyclonal (1/500) was used as the secondary antibody.
