  • Relevance
Centruroides noxius is known as the Hoffmann or Mexican scorpion. Ergtoxin is secreted by the venom gland and blocks ERG-potassium channels of nerve, heart and endocrine cells of different species. Is more toxic than CsEKerg1 and the presence of a 'disulfide through disulfide knot' structurally defines this protein as a knottin. Ergtoxin is a novel ERG1 K+ channel blocker.
  • Cellular localization
    Secreted
