The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.
SPECIFIC ACTIVITY: 10,000 – 13,000 units/mg
UNIT DEFINATION: One unit of the recombinant caspase-2 is the enzyme activity that cleaves 1 nmol of the caspase substrate VDVAD-pNA (pNA: pnitroanaline) per hour at 37oC in a reaction solution containing 50 mM Hepes, pH 7.2, 50 mM NaCl, 0.1% Chaps, 10 mM EDTA, 5% Glycerol, and 10 mM DTT
The lyophilized caspase-2 is stable for 1 year at –70oC.

NEDD 2 apoptosis regulatory gene
Caspase 2 is involved in the activation cascade of caspases responsible for apoptosis execution. Might function by either activating some proteins required for cell death or inactivating proteins necessary for cell survival. During apoptosis, procaspase-2 is processed at aspartate residues. The processed form of caspase-2 consists of large (19 kDa) and small (12 kDa) subunits which associate to form the active enzyme.
