  • RelevanceADRB1 belongs to a prototypic family of guanine nucleotide binding regulatory protein-coupled receptors that mediate the physiological effects of the hormone epinephrine and the neurotransmitter norepinephrine. Specific polymorphisms in ADRB1 have been shown to affect the resting heart rate and can be involved in heart failure. ADRB1 Gly389 is a common polymorphic variant of ADRB1. GsaL is the long splice variant of the alpha-subunit of the heterotrimeric G-protein Gs. Gs activates the effector adenylate cyclase. GsaL differs from the short splice variant by a 15 amino acid insert between the ras-like domain and the alpha-helical domain.
