  • RelevanceADRB1 belongs to a prototypic family of guanine nucleotide binding regulatory protein-coupled receptors that mediate the physiological effects of the hormone epinephrine and the neurotransmitter norepinephrine. Guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) are involved as modulators or transducers in various transmembrane signaling systems. The Gs protein is involved in hormonal regulation of adenylate cyclase: it activates the cyclase in response to beta-adrenergic stimuli. G-protein Alpha S Short is the short splice variant of the alpha subunit of the heterotrimeric G protein Gs.
  • Cellular localizationADRB1: Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Localized at the plasma membrane. Found in the Golgi upon GOPC overexpression.
