  • RelevanceC5R1 belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family and is a receptor for the chemotactic and inflammatory peptide anaphylatoxin C5a. It stimulates chemotaxis, granule enzyme release and superoxide anion production. Guanine nucleotide-binding proteins (G proteins) are involved as modulators or transducers in various transmembrane signaling systems. G proteins are composed of 3 units; alpha, beta and gamma. The alpha chain contains the guanine nucleotide binding site. The beta and gamma chains are required for the GTPase activity,
