  • Additional notes

Cytoplasmic heart-type fatty acid binding protein (HFABP) is a sensitive and specific biomarker of myocardial damage. FABP3 is released from the heart after AMI is quantitatively recovered in plasma. It can a useful biochemical plasma marker for the estimation of myocardial infarct size in humans, comparing favourably with the use of creatine kinase isoenzyme MB (CK-MB).
