Specifications

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab73534 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

  • Biological activity

Performed in two different mouse obesity models; ob/ob and NZO mice. Both strains of mice were treated via intraperitoneal injection once daily at a dose of 5µg Leptin/gram body weight for a period of 14 days. Significant effects on body weight , food consumption, and plasma glucose levels were observed to saline-treated controls.

  • Applications

    SDS-PAGE

    Functional Studies

  • Purity
    > 95 % SDS-PAGE.
ab73534 was purified by proprietary chromatographic techniques. Purity: Greater than 95.0% as determined by: (a) Analysis by RP-HPLC. (b) Analysis by SDS-PAGE.
  • Form
    Lyophilised
  • Additional notes

Upon reconstitution Leptin can be stored at 4°C between 2-7 days

Preparation and Storage

  • Stability and Storage

Shipped at 4°C. Upon delivery aliquot. Store at -20°C. Avoid freeze / thaw cycle. For long term storage it is recommended to add a carrier protein on reconstitution (0.1% HSA or BSA). Please see notes section.

    Preservative: None
    Constituents: 0.1% Trifluoroacetate salt

This product is an active protein and may elicit a biological response in vivo, handle with caution.

  • Reconstitution
Reconstitute in sterile 18MOhn/cm water at not less than 100µg/ml, which can then be further diluted to other aqueous solutions.

  • Function
May function as part of a signaling pathway that acts to regulate the size of the body fat depot. An increase in the level of LEP may act directly or indirectly on the CNS to inhibit food intake and/or regulate energy expenditure as part of a homeostatic mechanism to maintain constancy of the adipose mass.
  • Involvement in disease
Defects in LEP may be a cause of obesity (OBESITY) [MIM:601665]. It is a condition characterized by an increase of body weight beyond the limitation of skeletal and physical requirements, as the result of excessive accumulation of body fat.
  • Sequence similarities
    Belongs to the leptin family.
  • Cellular localization
    Secreted.
  • Information by UniProt
