    • Function
      Weakly binds calcium but binds zinc very tightly-distinct binding sites with different affinities exist for both ions on each monomer. Physiological concentrations of potassium ion antagonize the binding of both divalent cations, especially affecting high-affinity calcium-binding sites. Binds to and initiates the activation of STK38 by releasing autoinhibitory intramolecular interactions within the kinase. Interaction with AGER after myocardial infarction may play a role in myocyte apoptosis by activating ERK1/2 and p53/TP53 signaling.

Tissue was fixed with formaldehyde and blocked with 1% BSA for 10 minutes; antigen retrieval was by heat mediation in citric acid. Samples were incubated with primary antibody (1/10000 in TBS/BSA/azide) for 2 hours at 21°C. A Biotin-conjugated goat anti-rabbit IgG polyclonal (1/250) was used as the secondary antibody.

      At this dilution factor, there is very good delineation of astrocyte processes.

Tissue from 4% PFA perfused animals underwent overnight fixation in 4% paraformaldehyde, cryoprotected in 30% sucrose and cut using cryostat.The primary antibody was diluted, 1/3000 (PBS + 0.3% Triton X100) and incubated with sample for 18 hours at 20°C. An Alexa Fluor®488 conjugated goat polyclonal to rabbit IgG at 1/1000 dilution, was used as secondary.
