  • Description
Mouse monoclonal [Reu-86.2] to Serum Amyloid A
  • Specificity
The antibody reacts with AA-type Amyloid depositions.
  • Tested applications
    Suitable for: IHC-Fr, IHC-Pmore details
  • Species reactivity
    Reacts with: Human
  • Immunogen

    Human serum Amyloid A (Apo-SAA).

  • Positive control
    • Amyloid depositions (renal biopsy).
  • General notes

Amyloidosis includes a family of diseases which have in common the extracellular deposition of ß-pleated fibrillar protein. Amyloidosis associated with chronic inflammatory conditions (AA-type) and Amyloidosis related to plasma cel dyscrasia (AL-type) are the most common, but the frequency of amyloidosis associated with chronic haemodialysis (B2M-type) is growing rapidly. Reu-86.2 can be used in routine diagnosis of amyloidosis both for detection of the AA-type as for the discimination from the other types of amyloidosis such as the B2M- and AL-type.

Applications

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab8057 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Application Abreviews Notes
IHC-Fr Use at an assay dependent concentration.
IHC-P Use at an assay dependent concentration.

Target

  • Function
Major acute phase reactant. Apolipoprotein of the HDL complex.
  • Tissue specificity
Expressed by the liver; secreted in plasma.
  • Involvement in disease
Note=Reactive, secondary amyloidosis is characterized by the extracellular accumulation in various tissues of the SAA protein. These deposits are highly insoluble and resistant to proteolysis; they disrupt tissue structure and compromise function.
Note=Elevated serum SSA protein levels may be associated with lung cancer.
  • Sequence similarities
    Belongs to the SAA family.
  • Post-translational
    modifications
This protein is the precursor of amyloid protein A, which is formed by the removal of approximately 24 residues from the C-terminal end.
  • Cellular localization
    Secreted.
