    Observed band size: 18 kDa (why is the actual band size different from the predicted?)
    Additional bands at: 31 kDa. We are unsure as to the identity of these extra bands.


    Exposure time: 12 minutes


    The Syndecan 2 protein has a predicted molecular weight of 22 kDa. The first 18 amino acids of the syndecan 2 sequence act as a signal sequence, and when cleaved the protein has a molecular weight of 19 kDa (SwissProt), therefore explaining the bands presence at a lower than expected molecular weight.
