FunctionTranscription factor TFIID is one of the general factors required for accurate and regulated initiation by RNA polymerase II. Mediates both basal and activator-dependent transcription. Plays a role in the differentiation of preadipocyte fibroblasts to adipocytes, however, does not seem to play a role in differentiation of myoblasts. Required for the integration of TAF10 in the TAF complex. May be important for survival of cells of the inner cell mass which constitute the pluripotent cell population of the early embryo.

Detection of Human TAF8 by Western blot of Immunoprecipitate.
TAF8 was immunoprecipitated from 293T whole cell lysate, using ab114114 at 6 µg/mg lysate (1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded). ab114114 was used for the subsequent WB at 1 µg/ml. Detection: Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 30 seconds.
