Applications

Our Abpromise guarantee covers the use of ab83159 in the following tested applications.

The application notes include recommended starting dilutions; optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user.

Application Abreviews Notes
ELISA Use a concentration of 0.25 - 1 µg/ml.
Sandwich ELISA Use at an assay dependent concentration.

To detect Human TGF-α by sandwich ELISA (using 100 μl/well antibody solution) a concentration of 0.25 – 1.0 μg/ml of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with -Human TGF-α ab9585 as a capture antibody, allows the detection of at least 0.2 – 0.4 ng/well of recombinant Human TGF-α.

WB Use a concentration of 0.1 - 0.2 µg/ml. Predicted molecular weight: 17 kDa.

Target

  • FunctionTGF alpha is a mitogenic polypeptide that is able to bind to the EGF receptor and to act synergistically with TGF beta to promote anchorage-independent cell proliferation in soft agar.
  • Tissue specificityIsoform 1, isoform 3 and isoform 4 are expressed in keratinocytes and tumor-derived cell lines.
  • Sequence similaritiesContains 1 EGF-like domain.
  • Cellular localizationCell membrane and Secreted > extracellular space.
