Purified human THR beta overexpressed in E. coli
A profound increase in expression of beta receptors is observed in the brain shortly after birth. The beta receptor activates expression of several genes known to be important in brain development (e.g. myelin basic protein), implicating it in the well characterised effects of thyroid hormones on development of the fetal and neonatal brain.
