  • FunctionPlays a role in regulating placenta growth. May act via its PH domain that competes with other PH domain-containing proteins, thereby preventing their binding to membrane lipids.
  • Tissue specificityExpressed in placenta and adult prostate gland. In placenta, it is present in all cells of the villous cytotrophoblast. The protein is absent in cells from hydatidiform moles. Hydatidiform mole is a gestation characterized by abnormal development of both fetus and trophoblast. The majority of hydatidiform moles are associated with an excess of paternal to maternal genomes and are likely to result from the abnormal expression of imprinted genes (at protein level). Expressed at low levels in adult liver and lung, and fetal liver. Expressed in adult brain and neuroblastoma, medullablastoma and glioblastoma cell lines.
  • Sequence similaritiesBelongs to the PHLDA2 family.

Anti-TSSC3 antibody images

  • Western blot against tagged recombinant protein immunogen using ab58379 TSSC3 antibody at 1ug/ml. Predicted band size of immunogen is 38 kDa
  • Overlay histogram showing JEG3 cells stained with ab58379 (red line). The cells were fixed with 80% methanol (5 min) and then permeabilized with 0.1% PBS-Tween for 20 min. The cells were then incubated in 1x PBS / 10% normal goat serum / 0.3M glycine to block non-specific protein-protein interactions. The cells were then incubated with the antibody (ab58379, 1µg/1x106 cells) for 30 min at 22ºC. The secondary antibody used was DyLight® 488 goat anti-mouse IgG (H+L) (ab96879) at 1/500 dilution for 30 min at 22ºC. Isotype control antibody (black line) was mouse IgG2a [ICIGG2A] (ab91361, 1µg/1x106 cells) used under the same conditions. Acquisition of >5,000 events was performed.
