Target
-
Function
Transcriptional activator; DNA-binding protein that specifically recognize the sequence 5'-YAAC[GT]G-3'. Plays an important role in the control of proliferation and differentiation of hematopoietic progenitor cells. -
Sequence similarities
Contains 3 HTH myb-type DNA-binding domains. -
Domain
Comprised of 3 domains; an N-terminal DNA-binding domain, a centrally located transcriptional activation domain and a C-terminal domain involved in transcriptional repression. -
Post-translational
modificationsUbiquitinated; mediated by SIAH1 and leading to its subsequent proteasomal degradation.
Phosphorylated by NLK on multiple sites, which induces proteasomal degradation. -
Cellular localization

ab196932 staining v-Myb + c-Myb in MCF7 cells. The cells were fixed with 4% formaldehyde (10 min), permeabilized in 0.1% Triton X-100 for 5 minutes and then blocked in 1% BSA/10% normal goat serum/0.3M glycine in 0.1%PBS-Tween for 1h. The cells were then incubated with ab196932 at 1/50 dilution (shown in red) and ab195887, Mouse monoclonal [DM1A] to alpha Tubulin (Alexa Fluor® 488, shown in green) at 1/167 dilution, overnight at +4°C. Nuclear DNA was labelled in blue with DAPI.
Image was taken with a confocal microscope (Leica-Microsystems, TCS SP8).
