RelevanceMembers of the 14-3-3 family of proteins are highly conserved proteins, localized in neurons, and are axonally transported to the nerve terminals. They are also present, at lower levels, in various other eukaryotic tissues. 14-3-3 proteins appear to play important roles in a variety of signal transduction pathways, including those involved in cell cycle regulation and cell survival. Because 14-3-3 proteins bind to specific phosphoserine-containing sequences they are likely to have an important role in signaling pathways mediated by serine/threonine protein kinases. Evidence indicates 14-3-3 is required for Raf-1 kinase activity and phosphorylation amoung many other functions. the gene encoding 14-3-3 tau is upregulated in patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

14-3-3 tau was immunoprecipitated from 1mg of HeLa (Human epithelial cell line from cervix adenocarcinoma) whole cell lysate with ab264318 at 6 µg per reaction. Western blot was performed from the immunoprecipitate using a different antibody.
Lane 1: ab264318 IP in HeLa whole cell lysate.
Lane 2: Control IgG.
Exposure time: 30 secs.
Immunohistochemical analysis of formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded human breast carcinoma tissue labeling 14-3-3 tau with ab264318 at 1/1,000 dilution. Detection: DAB.
Epitope retrieval with Tris-EDTA pH 9.0 is recommended for FFPE tissue sections.
