Target

  • Function

This is one of the several different receptors for 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic hormone that functions as a neurotransmitter, a hormone, and a mitogen. This receptor mediates its action by association with G proteins that activate a phosphatidylinositol-calcium second messenger system.
  • Sequence similarities

Belongs to the G-protein coupled receptor 1 family.
  • Domain

The PDZ domain-binding motif is involved in the interaction with MPDZ.
  • Post-translational
    modifications

    N-glycosylated.
  • Cellular localization

    Cell membrane.

    Question

Thanks for your reply. I have another question. This is not about 5HTR2c ab,but about anti-serotonin transporter ab(ab102048).

I`m doing western using ab102048,but so far I hardly get band. I am using human alveolar macrophage. And load 10microgram protein /lane. And I am thinking to increase protein load and find good positive control.

But I looked into some other companydatasheet for serotonin transporter ab(including ab102048) and most of them show as positive control for tissue lysate(whole lung lysate, colon lysate, duodenum lysate, btain lysate, etc) and I could not find any datasheets with protein from single cell(primary cell or cell line, whatever). And I wonder that to see protein expression from single cell is dificcult or not?

Do you know any information that could show as positive control of single cell ?

    Answer

    Thanks for your enquiry.

I have looked into this question and it appears SERT is expressed in platelets. Perhaps this explains why you do not detect SERT in your macrophage and why samples that are found to express SERT are tissue extracts containing whole blood.

I hope this is helpful. Please contact me again if you have any further questions.

    Question

I have some questions regarding ab133570 (HTR2c ab).
    I am considering to see HTR2c,but I found that Epitomics ab( Clone EPR6487 Cat# 5315-1 ) and Abcam ab(ab133570,EPR6487)
are same clone and both datasheet have exactly same Figure, but have different Molecular weight(Epitomics datasheet
is 63kD and abcam datasheet is 52kD).

Could you tell me the reason?

    Answer

    Thanks for your email.

Abcam has recently aquired Epitomics so we list all Epitomics products on our catalog.I'm sorry for the confusion. I'm not sure of the reason for the discepency between the 2 molecular weights. I checked the SwissProt database and the theoretical MW of HTR2C is about 52kDa.

I hope this is helpful. Please contact us again if you have any further questions.
