Target

  • Relevance

The 5HT4 Receptor is one of the several different receptors for 5- hydroxytryptamine (serotonin), a biogenic hormone that functions as a neurotransmitter, a hormone, and a mitogen. The activity of this receptor is mediated by G proteins that stimulates adenylate cyclase. 5HT4a receptors may play a role in opioid-induced respiratory depression.
  • Cellular localization

Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Endosome. Note: Interaction with SNX27 mediates recruitment to early endosomes, while interaction with SLC9A3R1 and EZR might target the protein to specialized subcellular regions, such as microvilli.

Question

I am working on honey bee and interested in antibodies against Tyramine receptors. It might be that these antibodies ab85570,ab65833,ab16028, ab44635,ab60359, ab13896, ab85615, ab85937, ab102706, ab101913, ab101770, ab101914, ab102700, ab102701, might have raised against the peptide sequences that also recognize the AmTyr receptors. Could you please check if any of these antibody potentially could work on AmTyr? Below is the sequence of AmTyr receptor: gi|58585136|ref|NP_001011594.1| tyramine receptor [Apis mellifera]

Answer

I am waiting for replies from some of the laboratories that produced these antibodies.

Of the antibodies for which we know the immunogen sequence (others are considered proprietary by the laboratories that produce the antibodies), the only two that have immunogen sequences with greater than 50% identity with the honey bee sequence you sent are:

ab85615, anti 5HT1A receptor, 77% (10/13 identical amino acids) and

ab60359, anti- 5HT4 receptor, 52% (22/42 identical amino acids).
