Product overview
Dopamine ELISA Kit (ab285238, K4219) is a competitive ELISA assay for the quantitative measurement of Dopamine in serum, plasma and cell culture supernatants. Dopamine is an organic chemical of the catecholamine and phenethylamine families that plays several important roles in the brain and body. In the brain, dopamine functions as a neurotransmitter. Outside the central nervous system, dopamine functions in several parts of the peripheral nervous system as a local chemical messenger. The concentration of Dopamine in the samples can be calculated by comparing the OD of the samples to the standard curve.

Relevance
Dopamine (C6H3OH)2-CH2CH2NH2)is a catecholamine neurotransmitter in the brain. Its chemical name is 4-(2-aminoethyl)benzene-1,2-diol. Dopamine is a hormone released by the hypothalamus. Its main function is to inhibit the release of prolactin from the anterior lobe of the pituitary. It can be used as a sympathomimetic drug, producing effects such as increased heart rate and blood pressure. -
