Relevance
Myo18A/Myosin XVIIIA is an unconventional myosin that contains a lysine and glutamine (KE) rich domain and a PDZ domain. The KE and PDZ domains appear to direct subcellular localization of the Myo18A variants. It is a dimeric actin binding protein that may play a role in the stabilization and organization of the actin cytoskeleton. Recently a cell surface form of Myo18A has been identified as the receptor for surfactant protein A, a lipid associated lung collectin that mediates innate and adaptive immune responses in the lungs. -
Cellular localization
Isoform 1: Endoplasmic reticulum Golgi intermediate compartment. Cytoplasm, cytoskeleton. Note: Colocalizes with actin. Isoform 2: Cytoplasm. Note: Lacks the PDZ domain. Diffusely localized in the cytoplasm. -

Detection of human MYO18A by Western Blot of Immunoprecipitates.
Samples: RIPA whole cell lysate (1 mg for IP, 20% of IP loaded) from HeLa cells.
ab81690 used for IP at 3 µg/mg lysate (lane 2).
MYO18A was also immunoprecipitated by rabbit anti MYO18A (ab81689), which recognizes an upstream epitope (lane 1).
Lane 3 represents the control IgG.
For blotting immunoprecipitates, ab81689 was used at 1 µg/ml.
Detection: by Chemiluminescence with an exposure time of 1 second.
