Product overview
Abcam’s MCP1 Rat ELISA (Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay) kit is an in vitro enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for the quantitative measurement of rat MCP1 in serum, plasma, and cell culture supernatants.
This assay employs an antibody specific for rat MCP1 coated on a 96-well plate. Standards and samples are pipette into the wells and MCP1 present in a sample is bound to the wells by the immobilized antibody. The wells are washed and biotinylated anti-rat MCP1 antibody is added. After washing away unbound biotinylated antibody, HRP conjugated streptavidin is pipetted to the wells. The wells are again washed, a TMB substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of MCP1 bound. The Stop Solution changes the color from blue to yellow, and the intensity of the color is measured at 450 nm.

Function
Chemotactic factor that attracts monocytes and basophils but not neutrophils or eosinophils. Augments monocyte anti-tumor activity. Has been implicated in the pathogenesis of diseases characterized by monocytic infiltrates, like psoriasis, rheumatoid arthritis or atherosclerosis. May be involved in the recruitment of monocytes into the arterial wall during the disease process of atherosclerosis. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the intercrine beta (chemokine CC) family. -
Post-translational
modificationsProcessing at the N-terminus can regulate receptor and target cell selectivity. Deletion of the N-terminal residue converts it from an activator of basophil to an eosinophil chemoattractant. -
Cellular localization
Secreted. - Information by UniProt
