We have been using an antibody against A2BP1/FOX1 ab83574 for immunocytochemistry, western blot, and CLIP (cross-linking immunoprecipitation). We purchased one tube in and this worked very well in all of our applications. We then purchased another tube inJune of 2011. This antibody does not seem to provide the same results on western or by ICC. I was wondering whether the antibody lot had changed between these two dates. Is it possible to check this info?

Thank you for contacting Abcam.
Under our Abpromise, which is valid for 6 months after delivery, we guarantee ab83574 to work in western blot, ELISA & IHC-FoFr on mouse and human tissue. We have gone through a number of different lots of this antibody in the past few years, but without either the lot numbers themselves, or the order numbers (so we can look up the lot numbers that you received), we cannot guarantee that the lots you received were either the same, or different. Most probably, they were different, and since it is a rabbit polyclonal, there will be a little batch to batch variability, but you should still be getting consistent signal in western blotting.
What type of western blot results are you getting with the new lot of antibody? Is there multiply bands now showing up, high background etc?
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
