Product overview
Soluble Epoxide hydrolase (sEH) Inhibitor Screening Kit (Fluorometric) (ab283390) can be used to screen/characterize/study potential inhibitors of Soluble Epoxide hydrolase.
This kit is a micro-plate based fluorometric kit for screening sEH inhibitors. Its assay principle is based on the hydrolysis of a non-fluorescent substrate to a fluorescent product by sEH. It uses N-Cyclohexyl-N'-dodecylurea (NCND), a well-known sEH inhibitor, as positive control.
The assay is rapid, simple and sensitive.

Function
Biotransformation enzyme that catalyzes the hydrolysis of arene and aliphatic epoxides to less reactive and more water soluble dihydrodiols by the trans addition of water. -
Tissue specificity
Found in liver. -
Involvement in disease
Note=In some populations, the high activity haplotype tyr113/his139 is overrepresented among women suffering from pregnancy-induced hypertension (pre-eclampsia) when compared with healthy controls.
Defects in EPHX1 are a cause of familial hypercholanemia (FHCA) [MIM:607748]. FHCA is a disorder characterized by elevated serum bile acid concentrations, itching, and fat malabsorption. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the peptidase S33 family. -
Cellular localization
Microsome membrane. Endoplasmic reticulum membrane. - Information by UniProt
