Target

  • Function
Terminates signal transduction at the neuromuscular junction by rapid hydrolysis of the acetylcholine released into the synaptic cleft. Role in neuronal apoptosis.
  • Tissue specificity
Isoform H is highly expressed in erythrocytes.
  • Sequence similarities
Belongs to the type-B carboxylesterase/lipase family.
  • Cellular localization
Cell membrane; Cell junction > synapse. Secreted. Cell membrane and Nucleus. Only observed in apoptotic nuclei.

Answer

This antibody has been tested in IHC on frozen sections, not on paraffin embedded sections - I shall add this information to be datasheet. As for the cross reactivity with Human tissue, it is also unknown, but quite likely due to the nature of the polyclonal antibody.

Answer

Sorry, we don't have any references for or images of this antibody being used in IHC of brain sections. This antibody was raised against the bovine antigen; although cross-reactivity with acetylcholine esterase from other species is expected it has not yet been specifcally determined.

Answer

Although this antibody was raised against AChE from bovine erythrocytes, we expect it to recognise rat brain AChE although its cross-reactivity with the rat antigen has not been specifically tested. Therefore, I recommend that you try this antibody under Abcam's new "Try Risk Free" scheme. This scheme is to allow researchers to try an antibody in an unknown application 'risk free'. If you want to place an order with our reference we can include the antibody in this scheme LD/ER.31.07.01 1.) Abcam will refund the product if it does not work in the application and species as stated on the datasheet. 2.) If it is used in an application or on a species that is not listed on the datasheet then Abcam will refund or the product for another of equal value as long as Abcam receives the negative data for publishing on the datasheets to help other researchers.
