Target

  • Relevance
Acrolein, a reactive alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehyde, is a common environmental pollutant, a metabolite of the anticancer drug cyclophosphamide, and a byproduct of lipid peroxidation. An increase in acrolein production has been proposed as a marker for Alzheimer's disease, diabetic glomerular lesions, and atherosclerosis. Acrolein is a potent inhibitor of cell proliferation at nonlethal doses and may act through effects on redox-regulated transcription factors. It has been reported that NF-kappaB activation is inhibited by acrolein.

Answer

Thank you for your inquiry. This antibody is not conjugated, the chemical which was used as the immunogen was conjugated with BSA. So you can use HRP conjugated second antibody.

Answer

Thank you for your reply.

I confirmed with the lab that this assay was done using the same ELISA protocol that we had attached to the earlier email (CCE 3753830). I've attached it again for your reference.

I hope this information helps.

Answer

Thank you for contacting Abcam regarding ab37110.

This antibody will NOT recognize free acrolein. Only acrolein in the presence of gluteraldehyde. The ELISA performed to QC this antibody and test cross-reactivity was performed with the antigen used to immunize, and also other antigens conjugated in similar manner with similar molecules to test cross-reactivity. The secondary was a standard species specific HRP conjugated anti-IgG antibody.

I hope this information is helpful. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any additional questions.
