Target

  • Relevance
Hexon protein is a major coat protein of adenoviruses. Adenoviruses capsids have three principal protein components: the hexon, the penton, and the fiber. Hexon consists of three subunits together forming two major components of different morphological symmetry. A triangular top with three towers of density is superimposed on a more bulky pseudo hexagonal base. The symmetry of the top is in accord with the trimeric nature of hexon, but that of the base derives from the molecular function, which is to provide a densely packed impenetrable protective outer layer for the virion.

    Answer

    Thank you for your inquiry.

Please find in the attachment the CoC as requested for this lot.

I am sorry, I could however not find whether and why this product has been previously recommended to be stored at 4°C.

The customer can continue to store this product at 4°C if he wishes. The expected storage time at 4°C is one year, whereas at -20°C the expected storage time is 5 years. For this reason I would therefore recommend the customer to store some aliquots of the product at -°20C if he does not think to use it all in one year and just to keep the working aliquot at 4°C.

I hope this information is helpful. Please do let me know if you have any questions or concerns in this regards.

    Answer

Thank you for your enquiry. Please find attached the CoCs you requested. We do not have set expiration dates for our products. Most antibodies are stable and can last for anywhere from a few months to several years if stored properly, so we strongly recommend that you follow the storage instructions on the datasheet for the antibody you purchased. These conditions will vary among our antibodies, therefore, it is important to verify the storage conditions for each of our products when you receive them. We guarantee all of our products to work for at least 6 months from the date of purchase when stored correctly. For more information on antibody storage and stability, please visit our Antibody Storage Guide on our Protocols and Troubleshooting Tips page (https://www.abcam.com/index.html?pageconfig=popular_protocols). I hope this information helps. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need anything further.

    Answer

Thank you for your enquiry. Unfortunately I do not have details of the degree of reactivity of ab8249 and ab8251 against the Adenovirus subclasses. However, I can tell you that ab7428 recognises all Adenovirus serotypes. All antibodies are yet to be tested by neutralisation. All tested applications are specified on Abcam product datasheets. At Abcam we are always interested in determining new applications of our antibodies. Therefore I would like to offer you a discount of 20% off the price of ab8249 in exchange for a review of this antiserum by neutralisation. Please e-mail me if you are interested and I will supply you with a unique discount code that you can enter during the ordering process. I look forward to hearing from you.

    Answer

Thank you for your enquiry and your interest in our products. We would like to confirm that this antibody has been tested for ELISA, Immunodiffusion applications but NOT for immunohistochemical staining. We would suggest performing a preliminary experiment and test different dilutions (1/100-1/2000) and then adjust the dilution according to the results. Should you decide to go ahead and test this antibody, please let us know how you get on, and in return we will forward a USD15/EUR15/GBP10 Amazon gift voucher.

    Answer

Thank you for your enquiry. Ab8249 has not been tested in other applications than ELISA or immunodiffusion I'm afraid. This doesn't mean the antibody doesn't work in WB, but that as we haven't tested this application we cannot garantee it will work. Should you decide to test an antibody in an application for which we do not have any information, please let us know how you get on and in return we will forward a GBP10/ USD15/ EUR15 Amazon gift voucher. I hope this information helps, please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information,

    Answer

Thank you for your enquiry. The clone 8C4 is adenovirus hexon specific. The antibody is directed against a genus-specific hexon antigen, which is present in all human serotypes. Unfortunately we have not tested recognition of AB5 and AB35.
