    Serum albumin, the main protein of plasma, has a good binding capacity for water, Ca(2+), Na(+), K(+), fatty acids, hormones, bilirubin and drugs. Its main function is the regulation of the colloidal osmotic pressure of blood. Major zinc transporter in plasma, typically binds about 80% of all plasma zinc.

    Defects in ALB are a cause of familial dysalbuminemic hyperthyroxinemia (FDH) [MIM:103600]. FDH is a form of euthyroid hyperthyroxinemia that is due to increased affinity of ALB for T(4). It is the most common cause of inherited euthyroid hyperthyroxinemia in Caucasian population.

  • Flow cytometric analysis of HepG2 cells labelling Alubmin with ab135575 (green) compared to a negative control cell (blue). Cells were fixed with paraformaldehyde and then permeabilized with 90% methanol for 10 min. The cells were then incubated in 3% BSA to block non-specific protein-protein interactions followed by the antibody (ab135575, 1µg/1x10^6 cells) for 60 min at 37ºC. The secondary antibody used was a FITC-conjugated goat anti-rabbit IgG at 1/200 dilution for 40 min at room temperature. Blank control (blue line) was used under the same conditions.Acquisition of >10,000 events was performed.

Here are the answers to your quesitons.

1) "Synthetic peptide conjugated to KLH, corresponding to a region within C terminal amino acids 547-577 of Human Albumin." means that the immunogen (amino acid range) used was taken from 547-577 of Human Albumin. So the antibody is specific to part of the human albumin chain.

2) I am not sure what you mean by passivization. Do you mean blocking solution? If so, you can also use the serum from the secondary antibody host species. In this case, if you are going to use ab96883, then please use 10% goat serum for blocking.

3) You did not mention what application you will be using the products in, so if it is a fluorescence related application like ICC/IF or Flow cytometry then yes, you can use this "Goat polyclonal Secondary Antibody to Rabbit IgG - H&L (DyLight® 488) (ab96883)" with ab135575.
