Function
Integrin alpha-X/beta-2 is a receptor for fibrinogen. It recognizes the sequence G-P-R in fibrinogen. It mediates cell-cell interaction during inflammatory responses. It is especially important in monocyte adhesion and chemotaxis. -
Tissue specificity
Predominantly expressed in monocytes and granulocytes. -
Sequence similarities
Belongs to the integrin alpha chain family.
Contains 7 FG-GAP repeats.
Contains 1 VWFA domain. -
Domain
The integrin I-domain (insert) is a VWFA domain. Integrins with I-domains do not undergo protease cleavage. -
Cellular localization

C57BL/6 mouse splenocytes stained with ab33503 (right) or Armenian Hamster IgG Alexa Fluor® 488 (monoclonal) (left). C57BL/6 Mouse splenocytes were incubated for 30 min on ice in 1x PBS containing 10 µg/ml anti CD16/32 antibody and 10% normal goat serum to block FC receptors and non-specific protein-protein interactions followed by the antibody (ab33503) or Armenian Hamster IgG 488 Isotype (1x106 in 100 µl at 1:500 (1 µg/ml)) for 30 min on ice. The cells were simultaneously stained with the following conjugated antibodies: MHC Class II PerCP, CD19 APC and CD3 PE.
Acquisition of >50,000 events were collected using a 50 mW Blue laser (488nm) and 530/30 bandpass filter. Gating strategy: T and B cells were excluded from viable lymphocytes and expression of MHC Class II and CD11c was assessed.
