Relevance
Cytochrome C Oxidase is located in the inner mitochondrial membrane and is the terminal enzyme complex of the mitochondrial electron transport chain. It collects electrons that are transferred from reduced cytochrome C and donates them to molecular oxygen, which is then reduced to water. It is composed of cytochrome A and cytochrome B, two copper atoms, and 13 different protein subunits, three of which are encoded by the mitochondrial DNA and ten others by nuclear DNA (mammals). -

Immunocytochemistry/ Immunofluorescence - Alexa Fluor® 488 Anti-COX4 + COX4L2 antibody [10G8D12C12] (ab198590)
ab198590 staining COX4+COX4L2 in WI38 cells. The cells were fixed with 100% methanol (5min), permeabilized with 0.1% Triton X-100 for 5 minutes and then blocked with 1% BSA/10% normal goat serum/0.3M glycine in 0.1% PBS-Tween for 1h. The cells were then incubated overnight at +4°C with ab198590 at 1/100 dilution (shown in green) and ab195889, Mouse monoclonal to alpha Tubulin (Alexa Fluor® 594), at 2µg/ml (shown in red). Nuclear DNA was labelled with DAPI (shown in blue).
Image was taken with a confocal microscope (Leica-Microsystems, TCS SP8).
