Relevance
The phosphorylation of specific tyrosine residues has been shown to be a primary mechanism of signal transduction during normal mitogenesis, cell cycle progression and oncogenic transformation, its role in other areas such as differentiation and gap junction communication, is a matter of active and ongoing research. Antibodies that specifically recognize phosphorylated tyrosine residues have proved to be invaluable to the study of tyrosine phosphorylated proteins and the biochemical pathways in which they function.

ab205479 staining Phosphotyrosine in C2C12 cells. The cells were incubated with 2mM H202 for 10 minutes (Treated) or solvent-only for control purposes (Non-treated). Cells were fixed with 4% formaldehyde (10min) and then blocked in 1% BSA/10% normal goat serum/0.3M glycine in 0.1% PBS-Tween for 1h. The cells were then incubated with ab205479 at 1/100 dilution (shown in green) and ab195889 Mouse monoclonal [DM1A] to alpha Tubulin - Microtubule Marker (Alexa Fluor® 594) at 2µg/ml (shown in red) overnight at +4°C. Nuclear DNA was labelled in blue with DAPI.
