FunctionSeems to plays a role in epithelial tight junction formation. Appears early in primordial forms of cell junctions and recruits PARD3. The association of the PARD6-PARD3 complex may prevent the interaction of PARD3 with JAM1, thereby preventing tight junction assembly (By similarity). Plays a role in regulating monocyte transmigration involved in integrity of epithelial barrier. Involved in platelet activation. In case of orthoreovirus infection, serves as receptor for the virus.

Flow cytometry overlay histogram showing left bEND.3 (mouse brain endothelioma cell line) positive cells and right negative Neuro2a (mouse neuroblastoma cell line) cells stained with ab275180 (red line). The cells were incubated in 1x PBS containing 10% normal goat serum to block non-specific protein-protein interaction followed by the antibody (ab275180) (1x 106 in 100µL at 0.2µg/mL (1/2500)) for 30 min on ice.
Isotype control antibody (black line) was Rabbit IgG (monoclonal) Alexa Fluor® 647 used at the same concentration and conditions as the primary antibody. Unlabelled sample (blue line) was also used as a control.
Acquisition of >5000 events were collected using a 40 mW Red laser (638nm) and 660/10 bandpass filter.
