    Defensin 1 and defensin 2 have antibacterial, fungicide and antiviral activities. Has antimicrobial activity against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. Defensins are thought to kill microbes by permeabilizing their plasma membrane.

    Developed using the ECL technique.

    Predicted band size: 10 kDa
    Additional bands at: 20 kDa. We are unsure as to the identity of these extra bands.



    An additional band of unknown identity was also consistently observed at 20kDa. This band was successfully blocked by incubation with the immunizing peptide.
  • ab122884, at 3.75 µg/ml, staining alpha Defensin 1 in Formalin-fixed, Paraffin-embedded Human Thymus (Myeloid Cells) tissue by Immunohistochemistry.
  • ab122884 staining alpha Degensin 1 in Mouse aorta tissue sections by Immunohistochemistry (IHC-Fr - frozen sections). Tissue was fixed with acetone and blocked with 3% BSA for 1 hour at 20°C. Samples were incubated with primary antibody (1/50 in 1% BSA) for 12 hours at 4°C. A DyLight® 550-conjugated Donkey anti-goat IgG polyclonal (1/200) was used as the secondary antibody.

Answer

The mouse and human defensin alpha 1 proteins does not have homology required for antibody cross reactivity so we can not confirm the antibody ab122884 will detect mouse protein as well. We advice customer looking for mouse specific antibody only because we don't think any of anti human antibody would cross-react with mouse protein.
