  • Positive control

    • IP: HEK-293T whole cell lysate.
  • General notes

ab226374 has not performed satisfactorily when used for WB of alpha Internexin in crude preparations (e.g. whole cell lysate). This antibody can be used for WB of enriched (e.g. immunoprecipitated) sources of alpha Internexin.

IP Use at 2-10 µg/mg of lysate.
  • Application notes
    Is unsuitable for WB.
  • Target

    • Function

Class-IV neuronal intermediate filament that is able to self-assemble. It is involved in the morphogenesis of neurons. It may form an independent structural network without the involvement of other neurofilaments or it may cooperate with NF-L to form the filamentous backbone to which NF-M and NF-H attach to form the cross-bridges.
    • Tissue specificity

      Found predominantly in adult CNS.
    • Sequence similarities

Belongs to the intermediate filament family.
    • Developmental stage

Expressed in brain as early as the 16th week of gestation, and increased rapidly and reached a steady state level by the 18th week of gestation.
    • Post-translational

Phosphorylated upon DNA damage, probably by ATM or ATR.
    • Information by UniProt

    • alpha Internexin was immunoprecipitated from HEK-293T (human epithelial cell line from embryonic kidney transformed with large T antigen) whole cell lysate (prepared using NETN lysis buffer; 20% of IP loaded) with ab226374 at 6 µg per reaction. Western blot was performed from the immunoprecipitate using ab226374 at 0.4 µg/ml.

Lane 1: ab226374 IP in HEK-293T whole cell lysate.

Lane 2: Control IgG IP in HEK-293T whole cell lysate.

Detection: Chemiluminescence with exposure time of 10 seconds.
