Application Abreviews Notes
IHC-P 1/100 - 1/200.
WB 1/400 - 1/1000. Detects a band of approximately 54 kDa (predicted molecular weight: 57 kDa).

  • Function
Can induce tyrosine phosphorylation of TIE2. Binds to TIE2 receptor and counteracts blood vessel maturation/stability mediated by angiopoietin-1. Its function may be context-dependent. In the absence of angiogenic inducers, such as VEGF, ANG2-mediated loosening of cell-matrix contacts may induce endothelial cell apoptosis with consequent vascular regression. In concert with VEGF, it may facilitate endothelial cell migration and proliferation, thus serving as a permissive angiogenic signal.
  • Sequence similarities
    Contains 1 fibrinogen C-terminal domain.
  • Domain
The Fibrinogen C-terminal domain mediates interaction with the TEK/TIE2 receptor.

  • Anti-Angiopoietin 2/ANG2 antibody [MM0020-1F29] (ab56301) at 1 µg/ml + Human liver tissue lysate - total protein (ab29889) at 10 µg

Goat Anti-Mouse IgG H&L (HRP) preadsorbed (ab97040) at 1/5000 dilution

    Developed using the ECL technique.

    Performed under reducing conditions.

    Predicted band size: 57 kDa
    Observed band size: 52 kDa
why is the actual band size different from the predicted?
Additional bands at: 47 kDa, 65 kDa. We are unsure as to the identity of these extra bands.

    Exposure time: 4 minutes

The band observed at 52 kDa could potentially be a cleaved form of Angiopoietin 2/ANG2 due to the presence of an 18 amino acid signal peptide.

Thank you for your reply.
I have aligned the human angiopoietin 1 and 2 proteins and the overall sequence homology is only 61%.
I would recommend ab64015, since the immunogen does not align well with Ang1 (63% homology)
or ab56301 (https://www.abcam.com/Angiopoietin-2-antibody-MM0020-1F29-ab56301.html) as this antibody recognizes Angiopoietin 2 in western blot without cross reactivity with Angiopoietin 1.
Please let me know which of the 2 antibodies you would prefer and I will arrange the shipment for you. The order I have is the correct one. Thank you for the additional order information.
Also, if the shipping address has changed in the meantime (since August), please let me know the new address.
I look forward to hear back from you.
