  • Product overview

Annexin V-Cy3 Apoptosis Staining / Detection Kit ab14142 is used in a 10 min, one-step staining procedure to detect apoptosis by staining phosphatidylserine molecules which have translocated to the outside of the cell membrane. Analysis is by flow cytometry or fluorescence microscopy.

The Annexin V-Cy3 reagent contained in the kit is also available as Annexin V-Cy3 reagent ab14143.

  • Notes

Soon after initiating apoptosis, cells translocate membrane phosphatidylserine molecules from the inner face of the plasma membrane to the cell surface. Phosphatidylserine on the cell surface is detected by staining with a fluorescent conjugate of Annexin V, a protein that has a high affinity for phosphatidylserine.

For more apoptosis assays, review the full set of Annexin V assays, or the apoptosis assay and apoptosis marker guide.

  • Platform
    Flow cytometer, Fluorescence microscope

Customer reviews and Q&As

1-2 of 2 Q&A

Answer

Thank you for contacting us. This kit can only be used with fresh cells and tissue samples. Any process that leads to membrane damage like fixation and/or freeze-thaw cycles makes the sample incompatible with this kit. So unfortunately it cannot be used with IHC-P. However, we do have quite a few anti-Annexin V antibodies that work well in IHC-P. such as ab14196. https://www.abcam.com/Annexin-V-antibody-ab14196.html I hope this information is helpful to you. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any more advice or information.

Question
Answer

Thank you for your enquiry. Annexin V assay can only be used with fresh tissue sample. Simply incubate annexin V with the tissue piece, then visualize it using confocal microscopy. Frozen or fixed tissue are not suitable for the assay. For frozen or fixed tissue sections, the Active Caspase-3 antibody (ab2302) works well in IHC for both frozen and paraffin sections. I hope this information helps. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need anything further.
