Specificity
This antibody has negligible cross-reactivity with Type A-I, A-II, C-I, C-II, C-III, E and J apolipoproteins.
Typically less than 1% cross-reactivity against other types of apolipoprotein was detected by ELISA against purified standards.
Non-specific cross-reaction of anti-apolipoprotein antibodies with other Human serum proteins is negligible. -

Function
Apolipoprotein B is a major protein constituent of chylomicrons (apo B-48), LDL (apo B-100) and VLDL (apo B-100). Apo B-100 functions as a recognition signal for the cellular binding and internalization of LDL particles by the apoB/E receptor. -
Involvement in disease
Hypobetalipoproteinemia, familial, 1
Familial ligand-defective apolipoprotein B-100
Defects in APOB associated with defects in other genes (polygenic) can contribute to hypocholesterolemia. -
Sequence similarities
Contains 1 vitellogenin domain. -
Post-translational
modificationsPalmitoylated; structural requirement for proper assembly of the hydrophobic core of the lipoprotein particle. -
Cellular localization
Cytoplasm. Secreted. - Information by UniProt

Immunohistochemical analysis of formalin fixed, paraffin embedded Human liver tissue labelled with ab98132 at 5 µg/ml followed by biotinylated anti-goat IgG secondary antibody, alkaline phosphatase-streptavidin and chromogen.
-
ab98132 staining Apolipoprotein B in Mouse liver tissue sections by Immunohistochemistry (IHC-P - paraformaldehyde-fixed, paraffin-embedded sections). Tissue was fixed with formaldehyde and blocked for 15 minutes at room temperature; antigen retrieval was by heat mediation in a citrate buffer pH6.0. Samples were incubated with primary antibody (0.5 ug/ml in BSA/TBS buffer) for 30 minutes. ab97101 Rabbit polyclonal Secondary Antibody to Anti-goat HRP, IgG - H&L, pre-adsorbed (1/500) was used as the secondary antibody.
